How AI Stunted My Writing Progress

If AI helps you put out your writing - great. It helped me too, initially. Besides spitting out content it can teach you write better hooks and all that good stuff. But what I've experienced is that, my own writing is not where I want it to be, or where it could've been. And if I lean in to AI too much, my writing skill doesn't improve or at least I don't feel it. My posts go three ways: 1. Light Edits I'd write a blog post from start to finish and use AI to poke holes in it and decide myself what's worth fixing. I'll keep using this method for the time being, but the end goal is to be able to write killer pieces on my own. 2. "Enhancement" I write on my own, but then use AI to "make it better". The resulting post starts loses my voice. 3. AI Generation I have a very rough idea, then ask AI to write a post for me. This is just a giult trip. I don't own this writing. It's sterile and boring. # Conclusion AI may add all the necessary hooks, cut the fluff, and the fluff often being the stuff important to you. It just makes the content soulless. I prefer writers which have their own style and personality. Whether or not they've used AI to make it is irrelevant. I've started writing just before ChatGPT came out in 2022, and I began using AI heavily in 2025. # Final Tip Practice your own thinking and writing, don't outsource it. AI is still useful for research; or I just didn't yet reach the point where it limits my thinking. And please, use AI improvements like a spicy sauce: should be used sparingly.
